Boy or Girl Poll

Audra suggested that I put up a poll to see if you guys think we’re having a boy or a girl.  To help you decide, I copied some “old wives tales,” and marked out the information that is incorrect:

Does Lori have . . .

  • Shiny and full bodied hair or thinner and stringer boy
  • Leg hair growing faster or at the same rate as before   girl
  • Nails growing faster or at the same rate boy
  • Severe or no morning sickness   girl
  • Craving for sweet or sour.  [I didn't and haven't craved anything, so we'll throw this one out.]
  • Tush growing in size or remains unchanged.  [But maybe Jonathan would tell you differently?]  boy
  • Feet colder now or always this way boy
  • Baby heart rate below 139 or above 140  girl
  • Craving or no craving for orange juice  boy
  • Baby rests high or low   boy
  • Tummy shaped like beach ball or watermelon  girl
  • More kicks to the left or right  boy
  • More kicks high or low  girl
  • Dad is or is not gaining weight in sympathy  girl
  • See or do not see the pregnancy on Lori’s face.  [But maybe I'm wrong.]  boy

This is funny. I’ve never seen all these old wives tales, but what I like is a lot of the things you answered “girl” to, I would answer “girl” to myself and I KNOW I’m having a boy.
My leg hair is growing at the same rate (slower in fact), babies’ heart rate has been between 145-150 everytime, I’ve had almost ALL of the kicks lower than higher, AND David actually hasn’t gained any sympathy weight this time.

    So….my verdict is BOY!

It’s a cruel game you play with our emotions since you already know what the baby is. Couldn’t you just tell me if I promise not to say anything to anyone, ever? This is my chance to prove to you that I really am a dead sea like I’ve been saying all these years.

  3. lori Says:

@ Emily- I so love you. Don’t you wanna be surprised?!? I remember anticipating Annalise’s birth day because I didn’t know the gender. Katie inspired me. :) I know you’re a DS. You’re the best!

  4. Emily Says:

I will anticipate the birth even MORE if I know whether it’s a boy or a girl; I’ll feel more connected to him. Or her. Gee, I wish I could refer to the baby using the correct pronoun, but some people refuse to share their secrets. Lame!

  5. lori Says:

@ Em- You know I love you!

  6. Katie Says:

Wow, I had no idea there were so many!
I agree with Emily. Very cruel game you play!!!! I didn’t mean to inspire you to do that!!! hahaha!
I didn’t vote in the poll ’cause I’m just not sure. I don’t have any confidence in my instincts anymore since I was wrong about Annalise! Except for the heartburn/hair connection. Did I tell you about that? Supposedly that one’s been scientifically supported.

  7. lori Says:

@ Katie- Well, if Jonathan had’ve stuck to the plan of us not knowing, it would make this a lot easier.

What about the heartburn/hair connection? Just that if you have bad heartburn the baby will have a lot of hair? Or does it have to do w/ gender somehow?

  8. Katie Says:

I know, I was thinking about that when I wrote this. Blame it on the man!!!!

Yeah, the more heartburn you have, the more hair your baby has. Nothing to do with gender..sorry, rapid thought change there. Anyhow, it was totally true with my two pregnancies (Gretchen - very little hair and very litte heartburn, Annalise the opposite in both categories!). And they did a study asking women about their heartburn and comparing it with the babies’ hair amount after birth and it was true!
